The Steel Shoe Fund Mission Statement

The STEEL SHOE FUND has been established as a non-profit, tax-deductible organization to assist flat track motorcycle racers who have been seriously injured during competition within the continental United States by providing funds to be used to pay their medical bills or assist in their most immediate needs following a serious racing accident.

The STEEL SHOE FUND is registered as a charitable organization in the State of Wisconsin and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501 (c) (3) of the IRS code. All contributions to the STEEL SHOE FUND are tax deductible.

All currently licensed flat track motorcycle racers who are injured while practicing or competing in an organized flat track motorcycle racing organization in the United States are eligible for benefits.

The STEEL SHOE FUND is run by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. In most cases, the STEEL SHOE FUND makes its donations directly to the doctors, clinics, etc. that the racer is indebted to AFTER any and all insurance payments have been made.

The Board Of Directors decides the donations to each applicant on a case-by-case basis, based upon the information provided. Every effort is made to ensure that the donations from the STEEL SHOE FUND are not misused.

Donations to the STEEL SHOE FUND are raised through various fund-raising events each year, including auctions, races, merchandise sales, and monetary contributions. By far, the largest influx of money into the STEEL SHOE FUND is through contributions.

An annual 3-hour motorcycle endurance ice race event is held every January as a fund-raiser and to raise awareness of the STEEL SHOE FUND.
